The Claas plunger knife, also called the baler blade, slices the crop at the entrance to the bale chamber with every plunger stroke. When blunt, it cuts badly: the baler strains, uses more power and forms uneven bales.

Identifying your Claas plunger knife
This knife, also called the baler blade, measures 340 × 200 × 3 mm. It fits Claas Markant 50 and 51 balers. A blade that is chipped or rounded on its edge must be replaced without delay. Measure the old blade if in doubt, then send the dimensions from the contact page.
Fitting and adjusting it
First check the stationary knife in the chamber: two worn blades no longer cut. Then tighten the blade on the plunger and set the clearance between the two knives according to the Claas manual. Finally, check the cut on a few test bales.
