The Sonalika fuel lift pump filter is a small strainer at the inlet of the lift pump. It stops impurities in the diesel before they reach the pump and the injectors. When clogged, it starves the engine of fuel: loss of power, misfiring, stalling.

Replacing it correctly
First shut off the fuel supply, then remove the pump cover. Then take out the dirty strainer and clean its housing. Fit the new one, close with a seal in good condition, then bleed the air from the circuit before starting.
