The Claas Markant twine knife is the knotter’s upper knife: it cuts the wire just after the knot is formed. When blunt, it cuts badly, the wire frays and tying becomes uneven.
Compatible models: Claas Markant 50 (wire version), 51, 55 and 65 balers.

Fitting and maintaining it
When refitting, check the wear of the knotter bill and the holder: excessive play prevents a clean cut. Then adjust the twine knife to the dimensions in the Claas manual. Finally, grease the knotter as indicated, without overdoing it, so dust doesn’t stick to it.
